A multi-hole bowl usually has five smaller holes in its base. Air is drawn from above through the layer of tobacco and leaves the bowl through these base holes towards the stem. The tobacco sits directly over the holes.
What the design means for you
- Molasses: Liquid from the tobacco can run through the base holes into the stem. So expect to clean the stem more often than with a phunnel, whose raised central hole keeps the molasses in the reservoir.
- Air gap: You usually leave some space between the tobacco and the cover rather than filling the bowl to the rim.
- Cover: The bowl is covered with perforated foil, a chimney attachment or an HMD. For an attachment to sit level, the lip should be flat and wide enough.
The multi-hole bowls in the range come from brands including Hookain. Use the material filter to narrow down which material a model is made of.
