Mods & mod kits
Battery mods, often just called mods, supply your atomiser with power and regulate the output. A mod set combines the battery mod directly with a matching atomiser. That makes sense if you do not want to check yourself first which parts fit together.

Battery mods & mod sets at a glance
| Device type | What it is | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| Battery mod | Supplies the atomiser with power and regulates the output | Those who want to control their setup themselves |
| Mod set | Battery mod bundled with a matching atomiser | Those who do not want to check which parts fit together |
| Simple pod systems | Uncomplicated operation, fewer settings | Those who deliberately like it simple |
Compared with very simple pod systems, you usually get more control over your setup here. Depending on the device, either uncomplicated operation or more room for power and draw behaviour comes first. Nicotine-containing products can be addictive and are intended for adults only.
Hookain tip: with a set, first look at the atomiser included and the matching coils. That often tells you faster whether the device is meant more for tighter MTL or more open vaping.
What to look out for when buying
- Power range: the mod should cover the range of your coil cleanly. The recommended wattage range on the coil is what counts.
- Battery type: there are devices with an internal battery and mods for external cells such as 18650 or 21700. Internal batteries are simpler in daily life, external batteries offer more flexibility - but the cells for removable-battery mods are generally not included and go into the basket separately.
- Operation: a display and buttons help you keep watts, battery level and resistance in view. Some kits focus more on easy use.
- Connection: on classic mods the 510 connection is the common standard for many atomisers.
The advantage of mod sets is that battery mod and atomiser are already intended as a combination. So you do not have to match thread, diameter and wattage range yourself, and can later swap coil or atomiser in a targeted way.
How to get a clean first start
The device should be charged before the first draw. Then you insert the coil, fill the tank and let everything rest briefly so the coil can soak up liquid. After that, start at the lower end of the coil's recommended power range rather than too high.
A common mistake is too many watts right at the start. That can ruin the coil quickly and spoil the flavour. If your set works with replaceable coils, a quick look at resistance and power range is always worthwhile.
Let the coil soak first
Practical tip: after filling, let the tank stand upright for a few minutes. That lets the cotton soak through and the coil will not burn on the first draw.
Which devices you find here
Here you find battery mods and mod sets from brands such as Geekvape, Aspire, Lost Vape and Vaporesso - plus some compact kits with a built-in battery. A typical mod set is, for example, the Geekvape Aegis Solo 2 with up to 100 watts, a replaceable 18650 cell and a sub-ohm tank. Devices such as the Geekvape S30, by contrast, are pod systems with a built-in battery.
If you are looking for a matched setup, a mod set is often the easy way. If you already know exactly which atomiser you want to use, a single battery mod may suit better.
