Budget hookahs
Here you'll find hookahs whose cheapest version costs less than €80: compact tabletop models, hookahs for on the go and large hookahs with several hose ports, for example from Aladin, Diamond Hookah and Rpoza, Laziza, Huka, H2 or the Amotion Roam. Many models come with a hose and mouthpiece, sometimes with a bowl too. Exactly what's in the box is listed on each device.

Budget hookahs that run cleanly
A low price doesn't mean a worse session. What matters is that the hookah is airtight, draws evenly and is easy to clean. Differences from more expensive devices usually show in the material, the wall thickness and details such as seals or threads.
Hookain tip: Go for a simple device that is airtight rather than a flashy hookah with lots of parts you won't even need at the start.
Aluminium or stainless steel?
Many budget hookahs have a stem made of anodised aluminium. It is light, comes in lots of colours and is perfectly fine for occasional sessions. Aluminium is softer, though: threads wear faster when you screw them on and off often, and limescale builds up more quickly. Rinse after the session, let everything dry and descale the threads now and then.
Stainless steel is sturdier and rust-free, threads and connections last longer even if you take the hookah apart often, and you need to descale less often. In return, a stainless steel hookah is heavier. Even under €80 there are models with a stainless steel stem, such as the Aladin MVP360, the Diamond Hookah Tradi or the Lil Hope.
| Aluminium | you smoke now and then or want a light hookah for on the go | rinse and dry after every session, descale the threads regularly |
| Stainless steel | you smoke regularly and often take the hookah apart | keep the threads clean and use matching seals |
What matters in a budget hookah
Airtightness: If the hookah draws in extra air, the smoke gets thin. Check how the stem sits on the glass base and the seals at the bowl and hose port. Push-fit glass bases sit in the glass neck with a seal, click and thread systems fit without fiddling.
Diffuser: A diffuser on the dip tube makes the bubbling quieter. On some models you can unscrew or adjust it, so you can set the volume to your taste.
Purging: With a blow-off valve you blow stale smoke out of the glass base before you take the next puff. Clean the valve regularly, otherwise limescale makes it stick.
Spare parts: For branded devices you can usually get the glass base, seals or valve ball separately. So before buying, ask yourself whether spare parts are available for your model.
Well equipped without spending much
Click systems, diffusers and molasses catchers are no longer found only on expensive devices. The Rpoza aluminium models and the Diamond Hookah Lil Hope already bring such details in this price range. Some Aladin Epox models have a stem with a stainless steel core and are therefore also listed among the premium hookahs.
When it is worth stepping up
If you smoke several times a week, take a look at devices with stainless steel along the entire smoke path. You'll find them among the premium hookahs or filtered by material under stainless steel hookahs. One part broken? Then a look at the hookah spare parts often helps instead of buying a new device straight away. The session advice helps you put your setup together.
