Tanks & atomisers
The atomiser is the part of your e-cigarette where coil and liquid come together. This is exactly where the vapour is produced. The range includes clearomisers and tank systems for different draw styles, from the tighter MTL draw to the open DL draw with a sub-ohm coil.

Choosing atomisers and clearomisers properly
Hookain tip: before buying, do not look only at the tank itself but always at the coils intended for it as well. An atomiser is only practical in daily use if you can reorder the matching coils without trouble.
MTL, RDL or DL: what suits you?
If you prefer a tighter draw, an MTL atomiser is usually the better direction. These tanks are designed for the mouth-to-lung draw feel and mostly run with resistances from about 1.0 ohm. One example is the Aspire Nautilus 3: a 1.8 ohm coil is included for MTL; the second coil with 0.7 ohm runs at 20 to 25 watts and already draws a little more openly.
If you want to draw more openly and produce more vapour, you are more in sub-ohm tank territory. Such atomisers often work with low resistances like 0.2 or 0.4 ohm and need power accordingly - with the Geekvape Z Subohm it is 50 to 80 watts depending on the coil. In between there are setups that move more towards RDL and feel somewhat more flexible depending on coil and airflow. We explain the difference between MTL and DTL draw here.
- MTL for a tighter draw and a calmer setup
- RDL as a middle way with a somewhat more open draw
- DL with a sub-ohm coil for open airflow and more vapour production
Points to watch when buying a tank
First it is important that atomiser and battery mod fit together: the 510 thread is standard, but the diameter and wattage range of the coil must suit your mod - with coils below 1.0 ohm the battery too. Tanks come as a set with a coil, but also as single replacement parts such as glass tanks. If you already have a setup, you decide: a complete tank or just the part you want to replace.
| Model | Coil resistances | Classification |
|---|---|---|
| Aspire AF Tank | 0.4 / 0.6 ohm | RDL, slightly open draw |
| Aspire Nautilus 3 | 0.7 / 1.8 ohm | classic MTL, up to RDL with the 0.7 ohm coil |
| Geekvape Z Subohm | 0.2 / 0.4 ohm | sub-ohm, open draw |
The coil resistances already show roughly which direction the atomiser is designed for. At Vaporesso, alongside the xTank T clearomiser kit you also find matching glass tanks.
In practice: if you are unsure, go first by the draw behaviour you want and only then by colour or looks. The resistance range of the coil usually says more about use than the housing does.
Filling and letting the coil soak
A new tank should not be fired up hard immediately after inserting the coil. Fill the atomiser calmly, let the coil take up liquid first and then start moderately. That lets the cotton soak fully and the coil does not scorch.
Find the atomiser for your setup
Whether a compact MTL tank, an open sub-ohm clearomiser or a matching replacement glass tank: this is how you add to your existing setup in a targeted way. If you already know which brand you are looking for, Aspire, Geekvape or Vaporesso quickly lead you to the matching tank.
