About Hitschler and hitschies
The company behind the bags is hitschler International GmbH & Co. KG. The family business was founded in Cologne in 1929 and is now based in Hürth, just outside the city. Since 2021 the packs have carried the name hitschies instead of Hitschler. The range centres on chewy sweets, fruit gums and sour confectionery.
Saure Drachenzungen
The Saure Drachenzungen Blau (sour dragon tongues) are flat fruit gum strips with raspberry flavour, coated on the outside with sour sugar. The 125 g bag carries the vegan label. You can eat the strips whole, roll them up or tear them into pieces. The Saure Drachenzungen Brizzl Bälle are the round version: coated fruit gum balls with a firm shell and a soft centre in a mix of strawberry, green apple, peach and cherry, 100 g per bag.

Chewy sweets with a dragée shell
The Kaubonbon Berry Mix is the berry version of the hitschies chewy sweet: small dragées, meaning sweets with a firm sugar shell that cracks when you bite down, with a soft centre to chew underneath. The flavour is fruity rather than sour. The bag holds 125 g and is easy to share.
Ingredients and allergens
The full list of ingredients and the nutritional values are given on each item. The Saure Drachenzungen Blau contain wheat flour, the Brizzl Bälle wheat starch. The Kaubonbon Berry Mix contains beef gelatine.
