The high temperatures during the firing process make fireclay more stable than clay and less translucent than porcelain. The colors, shapes, appearance of the glaze, and overall appearance depend on the firing temperature, firing time, and position in the kiln and may vary.

As a result, each piece is unique and may have individual textures and shading. We use only mineral colors of the highest purity, bringing color, joy and flavor to your kitchen from now on. Here we use the original colors that are also used in the manufacture of LiT LiPS & Co.

Each piece is carefully finished by hand and delivered with a distinct handcrafted appearance. Excellent thermal properties meet a silky matte and reactive glaze.

Brüstuck Steingut is the ceramics line of Hookain GmbH from Cologne: handmade cups, bowls, plates and garlic graters from a family workshop in Spain. At Hookain Onlineshop you will find several shapes and glazes.

Handmade in Spain

Every piece is shaped, glazed and fired by hand. The clay body contains two kinds of grog, that is clay that has already been fired and ground. Firing at a high temperature makes the stoneware sturdier than plain clay and less translucent than porcelain. The glaze, the glass-like coating on the clay, is satin matt and reactive. It flows differently in the kiln depending on temperature, firing time and position. That is why every piece is one of a kind with its own shading.

Cups, bowls and plates

For coffee and tea there is the ceramic cup Taza with motifs such as Blaze Mir Einen or Fog Your Life, and the cup Milky Twist in Mixed Clay, whose shape and colour gradient vary from piece to piece. The Breakfast Bowl Morning Glory in Egg Shell or Shark Skin is microwave-safe and ovenproof up to 220 °C. Then there are the Plate and Snack Plate in Washed Vintage Blue from the edition „Das Perfekte Dinner“, thrown on the potter’s wheel and glazed in brown and blue-grey. The Smile High ashtray is also part of the line.

Acho Bra garlic grater

The Acho Bra is a small ceramic plate with a rough grating surface. Peel the garlic clove and rub it in circles over the surface with a little pressure until a fine paste forms. Add it straight to the dressing or marinade. The colours have names such as Lagoon, Espresso, Toxic or Lava.

Can Brüstuck Steingut go in the dishwasher?

The Breakfast Bowl Morning Glory is dishwasher-safe, and the plates in Washed Vintage Blue have a dishwasher-safe glaze. For cups and garlic graters, the information is given on each item.
