Babushka - HMD - Rosegold

The Babuschka HMD by Shanti is a heat management device made of V2A stainless steel in silver, black or rose gold. It measures 74 mm in diameter, is 27 mm tall and has room for more than three 26 mm coals. The charcoal sits in the HMD instead of on aluminium foil.

Room for long sessions

More than three 26 mm coals fit side by side inside. So you can heat up strongly and do not have to keep adding charcoal during longer sessions. You control the heat through the number of coals.

Stainless steel stores the heat longer

Stainless steel absorbs the heat of the charcoal more slowly than aluminium, but stores it longer and gets hotter overall. This suits dark tobacco in thick-walled bowls, but requires some feel: too much charcoal burns the tobacco. Start with a few coals and add more. The metal stays hot after the session; only touch it with tongs or a glove.

Three colours, one model

Silver, black and rose gold differ only in colour. Material, diameter, height and room for the coals are the same for all of them. The listed HMD compatibility is standard.

How to use the HMD

1. Pack the tobacco loosely into the bowl and do not press it down.
2. Put the HMD on the bowl and check that it sits firmly.
3. Place two to three well-glowing coals inside.
4. Heat up for three to four minutes.
5. If the smoke is harsh, take out one coal. If the heat drops, add more.

Care

Let the HMD cool down completely and clean it with warm water and a brush. The smooth surface makes this easy.
