The Tyrant Dark Ritual S2 Steel is a plug-in hookah by the Russian brand Tyrant, made entirely of V2A stainless steel. It is around 70 cm tall, has a high weight of its own and a magnetic hose port. It is available in Steel Grey, Steel Bronze and Steel Gold.
Design & stem
The sleeve of the stem shows snakes and skulls, the typical Tyrant motif. It is dark grey on the Steel Grey, bronze-coloured on the Steel Bronze and gold-coloured on the Steel Gold. The base is fitted via the plug-in system, and the bowl grommet is made of silicone.
Draw, diffuser and blow-off
The Dark Ritual S2 smokes in the classic Russian style. The diffuser is removable. The classic blow-off lets you blow the smoke out of the base completely. The charcoal tray is decorated with the Tyrant design.
Material & workmanship
All three versions are made entirely of stainless steel, which shows in the weight. It is made in Russia without glue, and the metal parts are cleanly finished. Every piece is unique and may differ slightly from the photo.
How to set up the Dark Ritual S2
- Fill water into the base until the downstem is about 2 cm under water.
- Put the stem with sleeve onto the body and plug on the base.
- Attach the hose to the magnetic port.
- Put the bowl on the bowl adapter, place the charcoal tray and position the charcoal.
- Take your time heating up. Blow out smoke that builds up in the base via the blow-off.

Quality materials
Being tall, it works really well for me in the living room. Being made of stainless steel, it feels a lot more upmarket than my old one. It’s not cheap, but you do get something decent for it.
