In a blend, vanilla is usually not in the foreground but forms a sweet, creamy foundation. What this foundation meets decides the direction of the blend.
Vanilla with fruit or spice
- Citrus: Lemon or orange with vanilla produce a direction reminiscent of cream with citrus zest.
- Berries and tropical fruit: Raspberry or guava place fruit on the creamy base.
- Tobacco note: Vanilla rounds off the dry spice of a tobacco flavouring.
Whether vanilla stands out in the finished blend or stays in the background depends on its share. Start with the manufacturer's dosage information and change it in small steps. You can read in the product description whether a vanilla flavouring is a concentrate or a longfill. Vanilla flavourings are available from SC, Dinner Lady, Bad Candy and 5EL, among others.
