The AO Carbon molasses catcher catches the molasses that runs down out of the bowl while smoking before it reaches the stem and the water. It has a carbon shell and an 18/8 joint, is around 9.5 cm high and weighs about 80 g. You can get it in aluminium in silver or black and in stainless steel in silver.
How the molasses catcher works
Without a molasses catcher, the viscous molasses runs down the bowl and drips into the stem, from there down into the base. The AO Carbon molasses catcher collects it on the way. Inside sit two threads and two sealing rings. Through milled cut-outs in the housing the air reaches the stem as usual, so the draw continues through the catcher.
Versions and dimensions
All three versions are the same size and differ in material and colour:
- Aluminium, silver
- Aluminium, black
- Stainless steel, silver
- Width: approx. 4 cm
- Height: approx. 9.5 cm
- Weight: approx. 80 g
- Joint: 18/8
Fit
The molasses catcher has an 18/8 joint and belongs on stems with an 18/8 connection. You do not need an additional seal; the sealing rings are already built in.
How to use it
- Check whether your stem has an 18/8 connection.
- Place the molasses catcher with its 18/8 joint on the stem.
- Smoke your session as usual.
- Let the catcher cool down after the session and unscrew it to empty it.
Care and cleaning
Unscrew the molasses catcher and rinse the parts with water. For dried-on molasses a little hookah cleaner or washing-up liquid helps. If you empty it after every session, the molasses stays soft and is easier to remove.
What is included
- 1 × AO Carbon molasses catcher 18/8 in the chosen version

Optik etwas schlicht!

Draw unchanged
Smoking on the balcony, you don’t even notice it’s there. Picked it up on offer, it paid off. The molasses rinses out easily with warm water. The flavour is purer because nothing builds up in the stem
