The Sweet Bowls Rubicon is a bowl made of dark brown ceramic, handmade in Ukraine, that combines the design of a killer bowl with elements of a phunnel. It is about 10 cm high and holds about 18 to 20 g of tobacco.
Killer with phunnel elements
The basis is a killer bowl: several holes in the base, with the tobacco spread evenly above them. On top of that there are additional channels inside that catch part of the molasses, as you know it from a phunnel. The molasses bakes on there during the session instead of running straight down.
What to keep in mind when packing
The Rubicon cannot hold back the molasses completely like a true phunnel. If the tobacco is very wet or packed too tightly, it can still run into the stem. So pack evenly and keep the holes free. The bowl suits medium to strong tobacco.
Built for the HMD
The rim is flat, an HMD sits steadily on it and the heat can be kept stable. Foil works too, but then you need a little more feel for the heat.
Handmade in Ukraine
Sweet Bowls is a small manufacturer from Ukraine. Every Rubicon is shaped by hand from dark clay, and the shade is a dark brown. Small differences in shape and colour are part of it. A bowl grommet is included.
How to pack the Rubicon
- Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so the molasses is evenly distributed. Let very wet tobacco drain briefly.
- Sprinkle the tobacco evenly into the chamber. The holes in the base and the channels stay free.
- Fill to just below the rim, leave 2 to 3 mm of space to the HMD or foil.
- Put on the HMD or stretch the foil tight, pierce lots of small holes and tighten again.
- Place the coals, heat up for a few minutes and control the heat through the vents or the position of the coals.

A bit of both. It has several holes in the base like a killer, and the channels inside catch molasses like a phunnel.
Does every bowl look the same?
Not quite. Because every bowl is made by hand, shape and shade vary slightly.
How do I clean the bowl?
Only once the bowl has cooled down completely, rinse it with lukewarm water and clear the holes and channels. Hot ceramic does not tolerate cold shock.

Glasur top!!
Gekauft als Ersatz für den Kopf, der bei meiner Shisha dabei war. Die Glasur ist sauber aufgetragen, nirgends raue Stellen. Steingut macht beim Reinigen seit ein paar Wochen keine Zicken. Unter warmem Wasser ist er in kürzester Zeit wieder sauber.

Glaze colour spot on
I got it on the advice of a mate who uses the same one. The glaze colour, brown, is just like in the pictures. I like going for Sweet Bowls accessories, and this bowl shows why.
