Schmand weg is a cleaning powder for hookahs, bongs and glass pipes. You dissolve it in warm water, let the parts soak and then simply rinse out deposits of molasses and smoke residue.

How to use Schmand weg

  1. Dissolve about 2 teaspoons of powder, around 8 g, in 1 litre of warm, not hot, water.
  2. Place base, smoke column or small parts in the solution or fill the base with it.
  3. Let it work for 5 to 10 minutes, a little longer for heavy deposits.
  4. Rinse everything thoroughly with clear water.

For which parts

The powder works best in glass, that is in bases, bongs and glass pipes, because it gets into every corner without a brush. You can also soak the smoke column and small parts in it. Electrical parts do not belong in the solution.

Aluminium and acrylic

With aluminium and acrylic, pay attention to dosage and water temperature: too much powder or water that is too hot can attack aluminium and discolour acrylic. Leave acrylic in the solution for 15 minutes at most. For colour-anodised parts, test the solution on an inconspicuous spot first.

How much Schmand weg do I need?

Around 8 g, that is 2 teaspoons, per 1 litre of water. For a small base correspondingly less is enough; the ratio stays the same.

Do I have to brush afterwards?

Usually not. The solution loosens the deposits and you rinse them out with clear water. Only thick crusts still need a brush afterwards.
