Lit Lip Stoneware at a glance
Every head is fired in a small workshop in Seville at over 1200 degrees, in two firings totalling 48 hours. The upper lip is roughened in a separate step so that common HMDs sit securely.
What the phunnel shape gives you
On a phunnel the hole sits raised in the middle. The molasses stays in the reservoir instead of running into the stem.
Lit Lip Stoneware in your setup
The Lit Lip Stoneware is compatible with common HMDs: aluminium HMDs such as Kaloud Lotus or ONMO close lip to lip, and stainless steel attachments fit too. Aluminium foil is just as usual on a phunnel: stretch the foil tight, poke it cleanly and regulate the heat with fully lit natural charcoal.
| Feature | Lit Lip Stoneware | What it means |

How to pack the head cleanly
First loosen the tobacco and spread it evenly in the reservoir. A loose pack in which the tobacco is not pressed down hard usually works well. Make sure to leave the centre hole free and not to pack above the rim, so the heat stays controllable.
Hookain tip: It is better to start with a little less heat and work your way up. Always let natural charcoal glow through completely and never light it with a lighter.
In an HMD setup you can then adjust the heat step by step instead of starting too aggressively. With foil the basic principle stays the same: pack evenly, keep the centre hole free and place the coals outward or inward as needed.
