The Lil Lip by Hookain is a flat Phunnel bowl made of glazed stoneware, only 39 mm tall. It holds 12 to 16 g of tobacco and is matched to Kaloud Lotus and NaGrani HMDs.
Small bowl, same capacity
Despite the low height, around 12 g of Virginia tobacco or 16 g of Dark Leaf fits in the reservoir. The Lil Lip is therefore the small edition of the Lit Lip and runs on the same amount of tobacco.
Phunnel: one hole in the middle
In the middle there is a raised chimney with a single hole, and the tobacco sits in a ring around it. This keeps molasses from running into the smoke column, and the HMD gives off the heat evenly onto the tobacco.
Matched to Kaloud and NaGrani
The inner diameter is 72 mm, the outer is 75 mm, and the lip is 3 mm thick. The edge is ground so that Kaloud Lotus and NaGrani HMDs sit flat and finish flush with the bowl.
Lazor glaze
Lazor is a grey with a metallic shimmer, and at the grooves the glaze darkens to black. Every bowl is glazed by hand in Spain, and the gradient is slightly different on every piece. You can find all glazes under the Lil Lip.
How to pack the Lil Lip
- Briefly mix the tobacco so that the molasses is evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the reservoir around the chimney, and the centre hole stays free.
- Fill only to just below the rim so that the HMD does not touch the tobacco.
- Put the HMD on, get it going with two to three charcoals and regulate the heat using the vents.
