Wookah wood types: which body suits your room?
A Wookah doesn't live in a cupboard, it stands in the room. That is why I choose the body like a piece of furniture: by colour, surface and light. Here I show you how the woods and finishes of Wookah look and what to watch for so that the hookah suits your interior.

Which body suits which room?

Nox: structure you can feel
For the Nox body, Wookah treats the wood so that it turns jet black and gets deep notches. You don't just see the structure, you feel it. In a light room the Nox becomes an eye-catcher, in a dark one it steps back.
Light has a say too
Notches and etched lines come alive in raking light. If the Wookah stands next to a window or under a lamp from the side, the Nox, White Nox and Grom stand out clearly. Smooth woods such as oak and Iroko, on the other hand, show their grain in soft, warm light. Just make sure that no direct sun falls on the wood, more on this in the Wookah care guide.
Abstract: a picture instead of grain
The Abstract body is painted by hand. On a white ground there are splashes, dabs and brushstrokes in green, yellow and red, without a stencil. It belongs where art already hangs on the wall. If you prefer something calmer, go for the Tenebris body with black and two shades of grey over translucent wood.
Alabaster: light and relaxed
The Alabaster body has a soft, neutral beige with a tangible structure. Wookah wanted to bring a holiday mood into the living room. Next to linen, rattan and light stone it looks calm, on dark wood it sets a bright accent.

White Nox: the light sister
The White Nox body has the same rough surface as the Nox, only in white and with shallower cuts. In large, bright rooms it stays understated and only shows its structure in raking light.
Every body looks different
Wookah makes the bodies in Poland almost entirely by hand. The grain, etched lines and painting therefore always differ slightly from the product photo. You can find all models in the Wookah bodies. Frequently asked questions
Do two Wookah bodies of the same wood type look the same?
No. Wookah makes them almost entirely by hand, so the grain, notches or painting differ from piece to piece and also from the product photo.
Is the Nox dyed, or is it a black wood?
For the Nox, Wookah takes a dark wood and treats it specially. Afterwards it is jet black and rough. The White Nox is the white version with shallower cuts.
Which wood is under the Alabaster?
Wookah does not say. What is known is the surface: light beige with a visible, tangible structure.
Does a light body need more care than a dark one?
No, all bodies are lacquered on the outside and are cared for in the same way. On light wood, though, you should wipe away coloured liquids such as coffee or red wine particularly quickly so that nothing soaks in.
