The DotMod dotPod Plus is a pod kit in a slim stick format. It has a built-in 1500 mAh battery, regulates from 5 to 35 W and takes magnetically held pods with a capacity of 3 ml and a built-in mesh coil. The device measures 121.4 × 27.8 × 15.8 mm and weighs around 90 g with a pod. The housing of this variant is Dark Grey, a dark anthracite.
Battery and power
It is charged via USB-C with 5 V / 2 A. The output power ranges from 5 to 35 W. In auto mode (Smart-VW) the device detects the resistance of the pod and sets the power to match. The housing is made of zinc alloy with an IML finish, and the pod of transparent PCTG.
Pod and coils
The dotPod Plus pods hold 3 ml and are filled from the side (side-fill, silicone plug). The pod stays on the device while doing so. The mesh coil sits fixed in the pod, so when it wears out you replace the whole pod. There are dotPod Plus pods with 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 ohm. The power ranges stated are 28 to 35 W (0.4 ohm), 22 to 24 W (0.6 ohm), 16 to 20 W (0.8 ohm) and 14 to 16 W (1.0 ohm). The pods with 0.4 and 0.6 ohm aim at RDL, those with 0.8 and 1.0 ohm at MTL.
Operation
The device starts via draw activation or the fire button. With the power button you change the power with 3 clicks, lock the device with 4 clicks and change the display theme with 6 clicks. The 0.96 inch colour display shows battery level, power, resistance and puff counter and offers the Velocity and Solar themes. With the airflow control on the side you set the draw from tight (MTL) to more open (DL).
How to get started with the dotPod Plus
- Charge the device via USB-C.
- Fill the pod from the side through the silicone plug and let it stand for a few minutes so the coil soaks through.
- Start with low power within your pod's wattage range. In auto mode the device takes over this setting.
- Set the airflow control to the desired draw characteristics and feel your way in with short puffs.
