A cone, not a needle
The tip gets thicker towards the handle. A light push makes a fine hole; push deeper and it widens the hole.
Good to know
Keep the wood dry
Only wipe the handle with a damp cloth and never leave it in water. That way the wood does not swell.

How many holes are right?
That depends on bowl and tobacco. Start with a circle of small holes and add more if the draw is too tight.
Does it work with double foil?
Yes. With several layers, press a little harder so every layer is pierced cleanly.
Can the tool go in the dishwasher?
Better not, the wood dislikes heat and moisture. A damp cloth is enough.
