The Aurora by Lavart Hookah is a phunnel made of glazed white clay. The tobacco sits in a ring around the chimney, and each flowing glaze turns out unique.

Instead of holes in the base, the Aurora has a raised chimney with one centre hole. The tobacco sits around it, so molasses cannot seep straight into the smoke channel.

Ring depot with an open rim
The depot has a medium depth and the rim is open, without a lip for any particular HMD. That suits flat devices just as well as foil.

Glaze, clay and care
Material
White clay
White clay sits beneath the glaze. It makes light glazes such as Crema or Mica look especially clear.
Care
Keep the chimney clear
Once cool, rinse the bowl with warm water and check that the centre hole is clear. Residue in the ring comes loose with a cotton bud.

Why does a ceramic bowl bleed?
Under the glaze there is clay that can store juice where the glaze is thin. Heat drives it back out. A phunnel like the Aurora keeps the tobacco away from the hole meanwhile.
Which HMD fits?
The rim has no HMD lip. Flat devices and foil sit securely on it.
Why does my glaze look different from the photo?
Flowing glazes develop in the kiln. Shade and flow therefore vary from piece to piece.

Steingut macht beim Reinigne seit zwei Monaten keine Zicken, am Sonntagabend bestellt, schon am nächsten Tag geliefert. Tabakreste bleiben an der Glasur kaum hängen 🔥

Worth it
Thanks to the raised centre spout the stem is still completely clean after almost a month. It sits pretty tight on my stem, fitting it takes a bit of force.
