With brown bowls it is worth taking a second look at the details, because the colour can come from a glaze or from the material itself. The colour value does not make that distinction. Which clay body was used, such as red clay or a clay mix, is shown in the material filter.
Brown in combination
Brown is rarely a single colour. It most often appears together with black, followed by red, white, orange and blue. Combined with red and orange it produces warm, earthy designs; with blue or white it creates clear contrasts.
- Design: Brown comes in phunnel bowls as well as multi-hole bowls. In a multi-hole bowl, molasses drains through the base holes; in a phunnel it stays in the reservoir.
- Care: Unglazed clay absorbs liquid into its pores. To boil such a bowl clean, lower it gently into boiling water.
The shop stocks brown bowls from brands including Hookain, Alpaca, N!CE, Lavart Hookah and Sheeshaya.
