The value red clay describes the body of the bowl, not its glaze colour. A red clay bowl can be glazed black, white or multi-coloured on the outside. Conversely, a red bowl need not be made of red clay; there is a separate colour value for that.
What goes with the clay body
- Material class: Almost all bowls on this page are also listed as earthenware. Earthenware belongs to the porous ware group: the body stays porous and only becomes largely watertight with a glaze.
- Check the glaze: Whether a bowl is glazed inside, outside or not at all is stated in the product description. Unglazed areas absorb liquid into their pores.
- Design: Most red clay bowls are multi-hole bowls with holes in the base; one phunnel is added.
Red clay bowls come from brands including Hookain and Cosmo Bowl. You will find other clay bodies, such as white or black clay, in the same filter.
