The flavour of pomegranate comes from the red seed coats: sour, with a berry-like sweetness and a tart, tannic note at the end. In tobacco this stands clearly apart from cherry or strawberry, because the acidity comes across drier.
The combinations in the range are limited and stay within the red fruit family. Cherry is the most common; raspberry, grape and the collective value red fruits appear individually. Pomegranate is therefore usually the main fruit of a variety and rarely just an accent.
Regulating heat
With an HMD, the charcoal sits in a metal attachment. If the heat is too high, you slide the lid aside or remove it altogether – this lets you adjust without rebuilding the bowl. Pomegranate varieties are available from brands including Darkside, Sebero, Musthave, Jent Tobacco and Aino.
