Two names, one bowl: X-Schischa and Werkbund designed the Polygon together. Its outer wall is broken up into small facets all the way round, while the inside holds a glossy black depot. Every piece is made by hand from stoneware in Russia.
Phunnel with facet relief
At the heart of the black-glazed depot rises a chimney with one bore. Tobacco goes into the ring around it, so molasses gathers at the bottom of the bowl rather than in the smoke channel. Because the depot is barely more than a centimetre deep, the tobacco forms a shallow bed and warms evenly from above.

Rim and seat
Across the top the Polygon is roughly 7.5 cm wide, with a rim cut to the usual standard size, so common heat management devices sit flat. Building with foil instead? Stretch a sheet flat across the top and punch holes only over the outer tobacco ring, keeping the centre above the chimney closed.
Seven models
Colour
Black, White, Blue White, Pink White, Purple Black, Red White and Yellow White: the only thing that sets the seven apart is the shade of the matte outer wall. Depot, chimney and rim are the same glossy black on all of them.
Shape
Like crumpled paper, the wall is broken into many small surfaces, which is where the name Polygon comes from. A large embossed X sits just above the plain foot ring. Because each bowl is made by hand, no two reliefs turn out exactly alike.
Care
When you are finished, give the ceramic time to lose all its heat; only then knock out what is left and give it a rinse in lukewarm water. Never put hot ceramic under cold water, or the glaze may develop fine cracks.

No. All seven models share the same shape, depot and chimney; only the outer colour changes.
Yes. Thanks to the raised chimney, the molasses has nowhere to go but the base of the ring, well away from the smoke column. The shallow depot helps too, as the heat reaches the thinly spread tobacco evenly.
Stoneware is never completely sealed. Warm molasses can seep into the body through fine pores and later show on the outside as a dark patch. It does not affect how the bowl works.
