The Chess Tradi 5 Hole is a small multi-hole bowl made of stoneware in beige. It is around 7.5 cm wide, just under 6 cm tall and holds around 8 g of Virginia tobacco or 11 g of dark leaf, intended for short sessions alone or for two.

Small Tradi bowl for short sessions
Tradi stands for the traditional multi-hole bowl, as you know it from classic hookahs. With its small reservoir, the Chess is quickly packed and quickly got going. If you prefer to smoke long sessions without topping up, reach for a larger bowl.
Five holes in the base
There are five holes in the base of the reservoir, and the tobacco lies directly on them. The heat passes from above through the tobacco, and the smoke goes down into the smoke column. This gives a direct draw. If the tobacco is very wet or the bowl is too full, molasses can run through the holes. So pack loosely and do not overfill.
Aluminium foil or HMD
The rim has the standard size. You can smoke the Chess classically with aluminium foil or put a standard HMD on. With the HMD you regulate the heat more comfortably, with foil you get the direct Tradi packing.
Stoneware from Spain
The Chess is made in Spain from stoneware. It comes in a natural beige finish. A silicone bowl grommet is provided for sealing.
How to pack the Chess
- Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin; let very moist tobacco drain a little.
- Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the reservoir and do not press it down so that the five holes stay free.
- Fill to just below the rim; the tobacco should not touch the foil or HMD.
- Stretch the aluminium foil tightly and poke many fine holes, or put a standard HMD on.
- Place little charcoal and get it going patiently. A small reservoir overheats quickly, so top up later instead.

How much tobacco fits in the Chess?
Around 8 g of Virginia tobacco or 11 g of dark leaf. Cut, moisture and how loosely you pack shift the amount slightly.
Does an HMD fit on the Chess?
Yes, a standard HMD fits on the rim. Aluminium foil works just as well.
Why does molasses run into the smoke column?
With a multi-hole bowl the tobacco lies directly above the holes. If it is too wet or packed too densely, molasses drips downwards. Packing loosely, not overfilling and a molasses catcher help.
How do I clean the bowl?
Let the bowl cool down completely, then rinse it out with lukewarm water and clear the holes. Hot ceramic cannot take a cold shock.
