Stainless steel at the bowl: HMDs, chimneys and tools

Here, stainless steel is the material of parts that go on top of the bowl or help you pack it: HMDs, chimney attachments, foil pokers and sets in which a clay bowl is combined with a metal attachment.

Stainless steel compared

• Versus aluminium: As a material, stainless steel conducts heat only a small fraction as well as aluminium.
• Versus silicone: Silicone conducts heat considerably less well than stainless steel. Some parts list both materials together.
• Dense material: Stainless steel has no open pores and does not absorb liquid.

With a chimney attachment, a chimney cap sits on the bowl and spreads the heat through the chimney effect; with an HMD, the charcoal sits in a container with an adjustable lid.
