Roasted hazelnut has a warm, buttery flavour with a bitter roasted note. In tobacco it belongs to the dessert directions and therefore almost never sits next to citrus or berries.
Instead, manufacturers combine it with other dessert notes. Chocolate and caramel are level at the front – together with hazelnut, this recalls nougat or pralines. Milk and biscuit appear individually and shift the profile towards baked goods; a blossom note remains the exception.
Which bowl suits it?
That depends not on the flavour but on the design. In a phunnel, the edge of the single hole lies above the reservoir floor, and you place the tobacco around the cone. As a result, molasses collects in the reservoir and does not get into the stem. Hazelnut varieties are available from Kismet, Darkside, Aino, XRACHER and Vandenberg, among others.
