The taste value bitter describes a note in the flavour reminiscent of peel, cocoa or herbal extract. It is assigned rarely and almost never stands alone: manufacturers use bitterness as a contrast, not as the lead.
Bitter, but balanced
The same varieties most often also carry sweet and fruity, followed by fresh, exotic and spicy. The picture is therefore bittersweet rather than bitter throughout. Bitter differs from the value tart through its clearer bitterness; tart means dry and astringent rather than bitter.
With ceramic bowls, rapid changes in temperature cause stresses in the material, because the outer surface changes temperature more quickly than the interior. Bitter varieties are stocked from Al Massiva Tobacco, Jent Tobacco, Holster, Smoke Island and hookahSqueeze, among others.
