Anise has a sweetish, spicy note that reminds many people of liquorice. In tobacco it is less a variety of its own than a spice that accompanies a fruit – and that fruit is almost always apple. In the data, anise appears most often together with the value apple, closely followed by double apple. An ice note, blueberry or menthol turn up far less often.
Anyone who knows the combination of apple and anise usually knows it as double apple. If you are looking specifically for the anise note, it is therefore worth checking both filter values, because not every manufacturer lists the anise explicitly.
A note on the bowl: clay without a glaze is open-pored and soaks up molasses. Residues stay there until you boil the bowl clean – and carefully: bring the water to the boil first, then lower the bowl slowly, because it can break if it falls in. Anise is carried by brands including Al Fakher, True Passion, Bad & Mad, Blaze Dark Leaf and Aino.
