Bergamot is a citrus fruit that hardly anyone knows as a fruit, although many know its flavour: its peel oil gives Earl Grey tea its characteristic note. In tobacco it comes across as bitter and floral, less sour than lemon and with a perfumed streak.
Manufacturers therefore combine it with partners that emphasise either the citrus side or the tea side. The range is small, so it is worth looking at the individual values:
- Lemon strengthens the sour citrus side.
- Jasmine and basil underline the floral and herbal aspects respectively.
- Tea and strawberry appear occasionally and move the variety closer to a tea profile.
Besides foil and an HMD, there is the chimney bowl for setting up: a chimney cap goes on top of the bowl and distributes the heat through the chimney effect. Bergamot varieties come from Kismet, Jent Tobacco and Musthave.
